LU – Belleville Football Announces Schedule for 2012 Inaugural Season

Lindenwood University – Belleville Football has announced its complete schedule for the inaugural 2012 season.

LU – Belleville will play ten regular-season games in 2012, taking the field for the first time in program history against Avila University on September 1 at 1 p.m. The Lynx will face some of the toughest competition in the country during their inaugural season, facing two NCAA Division II teams and some of the top NAIA teams in the nation.

“We will be testing ourselves all season with a schedule that is undoubtedly one of the toughest a first year program could put together,” said Head Coach Jeff Fisher. “We will have our hands full with a young team, but it will prepare us to understand what level we must be able to play at week in and week out to be successful in the NAIA.”

The Lynx’ complete schedule includes home matchups against Avila (9/1), Robert Morris University (9/22), Central Methodist (9/29), Valley City State University (10/27) and St. Francis – Indiana (11/10). The Lynx will hit the road against top NCAA Division II programs Oklahoma Panhandle State University (9/8) and Kentucky Wesleyan (10/13), and NAIA opponents at Iowa Wesleyan (9/15), Haskell Indian Nations (10/6) and Culver Stockton (10/20).

Lindenwood Stadium, formerly Township Stadium, will be a brand new home to the Lynx as the renovations are scheduled for completion just in time for the team to kick off their inaugural season. The 2.3 million dollar state-of-the-art stadium will have a seating capacity of 4,129.

“There is so much history and tradition that has taken place on that field and we cannot wait to bring in this new era of college football,” said Fisher. “We will be working diligently to give Lindenwood, the Belleville community and the entire metro area an exciting and competitive team to pull for each week.”

LU – Belleville is pleased with the relationship that the university has developed with the Belleville community and the entire program looks forward to the bond continuing to build as the season kicks off.

“We hope that the City of Belleville and the entire metro area look to the Lindenwood – Belleville Lynx as THEIR football program and that we can build this program into something that they will take great pride in having as their own,” said Fisher. “We look forward to playing our home games in front of a packed house and will do what we can to make the game day atmosphere an enjoyable experience for the entire family.”
