Lindenwood University – Belleville leads USCAA Director’s Cup Standings
April 5, 2012 Newport News, Va. – Upon returning from the USCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament, Lindenwood University-Belleville holds the lead in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Director’s Cup race. The Director’s Cup is set forth to honor member institutions that excel in a wide range of men’s and women’s sports for which the USCAA offers championships. The cup sets out to highlight the efforts of an athletic program to produce a vibrant program, diverse in its offerings, and who compete for national championships on a regular basis. Points are awarded in a declining scale based on finish at USCAA National Championship events. Additionally, each member institution receives five points for each sport offering sponsored by the association. The Lindenwood Lynx are closely followed in the Director’s Cup standings by the Southern Virginia University Knights. Lindenwood (510 points total) came into the winter season of competition earning 432.5 points with Southern Virginia trailing with 336. The Lynx went on to earn 77.5 points in the winter season of competition while the Knights tallied 115.5 points to narrow Lindenwood’s lead to just 58.5 points in the Director’s Cup standings.
