College of the Ozarks tops Lady Lynx, 83-58
January 4, 2012 Belleville, Ill. – The Lady Lynx took to their home court for the first time in four weeks Wednesday night as Lindenwood University – Belleville hosted College of the Ozarks. LU – Belleville fell to the Lady Bobcats in a final score of 83-58. Both teams struggled to find their shots during the first ten minutes of play, but the Bobcats pulled ahead toward the end of the first half to lead 36-20 at halftime. The Lady Lynx tried to close the gap quickly, but the shots weren’t falling as they made just three of their 17 attempted shots behind the arc. LU – Belleville’s offense picked up in the second half, scoring 38 points in the final 20 minutes, almost double their first half points. Despite the effort from the Lady Lynx, the Lady Bobcats stepped up as well, shooting over 50 percent in the second half. Both teams fought aggressively for the win, but College of the Ozarks came out on top, 83-58. Bernadette Brown led the team with 20 points, a season high for the junior guard. Ashley Will recorded 15 points while Blake Buchanan put up 11 on the night. In 16 games played, Will has seen double digits in all but three outings and has recorded six double-doubles so far this season. Morgan Smith recorded 25 points and picked up eight rebounds for the Lady Bobcats. Rebounds proved to be a determining factor in Wednesday’s game, as CofO hauled down 52 boards on the night to the Lady Lynx’s 31.
