Belleville, Ill. – Lindenwood – Belleville announced the signing of Cahokia High School standout Megan Johnson for the inaugural 2011 women’s bowling team on Tuesday, adding another top-level bowler to the team.
Johnson, the anchor of the women’s team at Cahokia for the past few years, will greatly add to the already talented roster of newcomers at Lindenwood – Belleville. “We have been speaking with Megan for quite some time,” said Curtis Wilkerson, head bowling coach at Lindenwood –Belleville. “We think Megan has a lot of skill and could become an excellent bowler at this level.”
Johnson finished her senior season at Cahokia with a 188 average and will now join an already talented roster of new bowlers for the Lady Lynx including Kassie Gause (Edwardsville), Aurora Maze, and Amanda Quirin. LU – Belleville women’s bowling will continue to fill out its women’s roster throughout the summer, but feel that they have the necessary pieces to be successful. “We have put together a great team that will be very competitive this season, but there is definitely room to grow. Hopefully we can add a few more prior to the end of the offseason,” said Wilkerson.
LU – Belleville bowling will begin competition in September of 2011. The schedule for both men’s and women’s teams is due to be released at the end of July.
