Belleville, Ill. – Lindenwood – Belleville announced the signing of former Belleville East bowler, Cecelia Saurwein, for the 2011 Lady Lynx team.
Saurwein, a 2010 graduate of Belleville East, is a transfer student from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and has the opportunity to make a big impact in the inaugural Lady Lynx team.
In her senior year at Belleville East, Saurwein led the Lancers to an 11-3 record and a second place finish at sectionals by placing third individually. After taking a year off competition, Saurwein looks forward to competing at the next level. “I’m so excited to be a part of this brand new program,” said Saurwein. “Taking a year off from the sport made me realize even more how much I love it, and I can’t wait to get started.”
With her addition, the new program at LU – Belleville looks to be off on the right foot. “Cecelia is going to be a great addition to our women’s program,” said Curtis Wilkerson, head bowling coach. “Not only is she a very good bowler, but she brings a very positive attitude and an upbeat tempo to the team that will really help team chemistry.”
Lindenwood – Belleville has added nine new sports for the coming year, including both men’s and women’s bowling programs. The schedule is due to be released this summer.
