Lindenwood – Belleville Men’s Basketball Soars to Second Victory in a Row
January 18, 2011 Belleville, Ill. – Coming off a dominant performance against Robert Morris Springfield, Lindenwood – Belleville got its second consecutive victory on Saturday, beating Central Baptist College 71-57. LU – Belleville played another up-tempo game and seemed to carry over momentum from its last match. From the beginning of the game, the Lynx forced the Mustangs to play at a high speed. For the first five minutes, things seemed relatively even on both sides as CBC kept pace with LU – Belleville. However, after the first five minutes, the game turned into the Rashad May show. May, the senior guard from Florissant, Mo., finished the half with five rebounds, five points and five steals. The guard seemed to be everywhere and was forcing turnovers throughout the day. As the first half came to a close, the Lynx maintained a slim, four-point advantage. In the second half, the Lynx opened the scoring floodgates on the Mustangs. Within the first four minutes, the team had extended its lead to 11 and showed no signs of exhaustion. Devon Weaver, LaQuan Pierce, and Dorel Sutherland combined for 30 points in the half and were the leaders of the offense. As LU – Belleville flew through the half, the team led by as much as 23 points with just over two minutes to play. The Mustangs were able to come back slightly, but didn’t have enough time at the end to get back into the game. Todd Starks joined Weaver, Sutherland, and Pierce as Lynx finishing the game in double figures for LU – Belleville. This is the second win in a row for the team, boosting its record to 7-13. Next up for the Lynx will be a home game versus Logan College on Wednesday, January 19th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Lynx Arena.
