Lincoln Christian Comes Back in Second Half to Beat Lindenwood - Belleville
January 7, 2011 Belleville, Ill. – It was a tale of two halves for the Lindenwood – Belleville men’s basketball team on Friday. The Red Lions erased a four-point, first-half deficit and went on to beat the Lynx 73-65. In its second of a five-game homestand, LU – Belleville was going for its third win in its past four outings. As the game began, it looked like the team was headed in that direction. After coming out to a quick seven-point lead, the Lynx were shooting the ball extremely well. However, nine team turnovers assisted Lincoln Christian University to get back into the game. By the end of the half, the Lynx led by four. As the second half of play resumed, trouble seemed to be on the horizon for the home team. The Red Lions came out hot from three-point range. The team shot 50% on three-point attempts. Leading the charge was LCU’s Chris Lawson, who went 4-7 in the half. As the three-pointers began to fall, fouls were on the rise on the LU – Belleville bench. Todd Starks and John Alexander fouled out while Allen Siedle and newcomer Andrew Dahle finished with four. Time running out, the Lynx attempted a comeback. Down by ten with just under two minutes to play, the Red Lions started to get into foul trouble of their own. The Lynx were sent to the line with two shots a total of four times in the final two minutes of play. This, combined with several LCU turnovers, helped LU – Belleville get back into the game late. However, the Red Lions held on to get the victory. Friday marked the first game for new Lynx center, Andrew Dahle. A transfer from John Wood Community College at the semester, Dahle is a 6’9” freshman from St. Louis who should provide a strong height advantage in the low post for LU – Belleville going forward.
