In the days before Christmas, Coach Melissa Wesley signed cheerleading standout Whitney Sipes as the first cheerleader in Lindenwood University-Belleville history.

Sipes has been cheering competitively for over eight years. She attended Granite City Senior High School and is coming to Lindenwood-Belleville from Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). In high school Sipes was a member of Pride, a competitive cheerleading squad in Collinsville, IL. She was selected as a two-time NCA All-American and invited to cheer at the Orange Bowl.
Currently Sipes participates in private lessons on partner stunting to keep her skills in top performance. She also serves as the head cheerleading coach at Grigsby Middle School in Granite City, IL. At the 2009 NCA Missouri State summer cheerleading camp her team was awarded Top Team, Herkie, and Spirit Stick.
After the signing Sipes said, “I feel I am a very qualified to be a cheerleader at Lindenwood University and I think I will be a great asset to the team!” Coach Wesley is very excited to have Sipes be a part of the program and believes she will be a great asset to the first cheerleading squad, which begins in the fall of 2010.
