The Lindenwood – Belleville men’s soccer team had one of their most productive practices of the year on October 22nd. The Lynx invited Union Elementary’s afternoon latchkey children to practice as a sign of their appreciation for the children’s support at home games throughout the season.
The practice featured a variety of games and skill work for the latchkey children. Lynx team members taught each child the correct technique for dribbling, passing, and shooting. After the skill activities, the children competed in 6 on 6 scrimmages monitored by the Lynx players. Coach Dan Hogan said, “It was a great day for Lindenwood – Belleville soccer. Our guys and the children had a lot of fun. It was neat to see that side of our team.”
Aside from the soccer, Lindenwood – Belleville had “Junior Lynx” t-shirts printed for the children and presented each child with a Halloween goodie bag. The latchkey children reciprocated by presenting Coach Hogan with a soccer ball signed by each child. Team captain Edwin Estrada summed up the event by saying, “It was just a really fun day for everyone. We’re glad to have such great fans.”
