Lynx Tie in Final Home Game

The Lynx took on Lincoln College this afternoon in their final home game of the season and after two overtimes the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Lindenwood played a strong first half and controlled possession for a majority of the 45 minutes. They also outshot Lincoln 6-3. Despite their efforts, the score remained tied 0-0 at the break. Lincoln College came out strong after the break and took an early lead in the second half. Freshman defender Daniel Marulanda gave Lincoln a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 51st minute. Less than three minutes later, fellow freshman defender Mario Almendarez scored on a head ball increasing Lincoln’s lead to 2-0. Despite being down 2-0 late in the second half, the Lynx didn’t give up. Junior defender Aldo Reyes kept hopes alive with a goal from 15 feet outside of the penalty box in the 84th minute. Energized, the Lynx continued applying pressure and with only three minutes to play junior Luis Serrano sent the game into overtime with a blast from the top of the box. After two hard fought overtime periods each team walked away with a 2-2 tie. The Lynx will play their final regular season game of the year on October 24th at Robert Morris – Lake County.
