The Lindenwood University – Belleville athletics department will feature 10 teams beginning in the fall of 2010. The programs include men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, cheerleading and a spirit squad.
Lindenwood – Belleville will model its athletics department after the very successful Lindenwood – St. Charles athletics department, which has 46 athletics teams—more than any college in the United States. Over the last eight years, Lindenwood has won 40 national championships, an average of five a year. Lindenwood – Belleville intends to contribute to the successful tradition of Lindenwood athletics.
Mission:
It is the mission of intercollegiate sports at Lindenwood University to advance learning, enliven campus life, develop leadership skills, and foster the personal growth of the student athlete through offering a high quality athletics program. Athletic department personnel strive to provide model programs that develop meaningful standards of scholarship, athletic performance, leadership, community service, and sportsmanship conduct. Through sports Lindenwood seeks to contribute to a sense of collegiate identity and positive perception in the community. The athletic department shall strive for excellence in the competitive environment in accord with the philosophy, rules, and regulations of the USCAA and other sports governing bodies in which Lindenwood has membership.
